Couples Therapy

A good relationship can get even better.

You may love each other and still have things you want to understand, improve, or change. Whether you’re in a hard stretch or just want to be more intentional, couples therapy can help you communicate more clearly and take care of the relationship you’re building.

Understanding each other matters.

What you say is only part of the conversation. Family experiences, past relationships, old hurts, expectations, personality, and the ways you’ve learned to communicate can all affect what you say, what your partner hears, and what happens next.

Part of our work is understanding what each of you brings into the conversation so you can hear each other more clearly. Then we focus on what you can do differently now.

You don’t have to wait until something is wrong.

Some couples come to therapy because something isn’t working. Others have been through a difficult season. Some are doing well and know there are places where they could be better.

Couples therapy can be a place to address problems, but it can also be a way to take care of a relationship you value.

Couples therapy may be helpful if...

  • You love each other, but there are things between you that need attention.
  • You want to communicate better, especially when you disagree.
  • Something has affected trust and you’re trying to figure out what repair looks like.
  • You want to feel more connected or understand each other better.
  • A change, decision, or difficult season is putting pressure on your relationship.
  • Your relationship is good, and you want to be intentional about keeping it that way.

About my approach

I’m trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Levels 1 and 2.

The assessment isn’t about looking for everything that’s wrong. It’s about knowing your relationship well enough to decide where to put your attention.

Focused Couples Sessions

Skip the slow start.

Before we meet, you each complete the Gottman Relationship Checkup. That means our first session begins with your relationship, not with a stack of intake questions.

How it works

1. Complete the Checkup.

Each partner completes the Gottman Relationship Checkup separately online before the first session.

2. Start the work on day one.

Your results show us what’s strong and where to focus before we ever sit down together.

3. Meet for 90 minutes.

Longer sessions give us time to go deeper into a pattern without stopping just as it gets interesting.

4. Keep going between sessions.

When it helps, I assign Gottman Connect exercises and self-paced modules that fit what we’re working on.

After the Checkup, I’ll recommend a plan based on your results. The number of sessions depends on what you want to work on, and we’ll check in on progress along the way.

Focused Couples Sessions are $145 per 90-minute session.
